HINGE DOOR
It is a monumental gate located in the walls of Toledo. It is also known as "New Hinge Door" because there is another smaller door nearby called "Old Hinge Door". He is of Muslim origin, from whose time it preserves remains in the second interior body. Its name derives from the Arabic word Bab-Shagra, What does the Gate of the Sacred mean?.
INNER AND OUTER BODY
The monumental outer body is formed by a triumphal arch of padded ashlars, crowned by a huge imperial coat of arms of the city with its unmistakable double-headed eagle. What's more, It is flanked by two large semicircular masonry towers with the figures of two seated Kings, a symbol of good government of the medieval shield.. The interior body of a semicircular arch flanked by square towers crowned by ceramic spires, on one of whose faces appears the imperial coat of arms of Carlos V.
